MYCELIA
After studying the life cycle of fungi, mycelium greatly inspired me in this project. Decaying matters are one of the substances mycelium feed on, and the rotting bodies would be covered in these delicate structures to be broken down into. During my research, I found out that there are various kinds of fungi that could bring harm as much as others heal.
Looking into the delicacy of life and impermanence of death; decaying, rotting, coming back to life by the power of nature, the collection brings out qualities of marvellous Mother Nature - things falling apart but still, miraculously staying together to bring new life. The aesthetics of this collection takes fragility and decomposition to silhouettes and structures of knit with movements of mycelia coming through.
For my final line up, the asymmetric hems along with tones of browns brings out the similarities across all outfits using fabrics of different techniques that creates movement visually.
