COLECHI
Seeking opportunities to collaborate with like-minded creatives led me to participate in a six-week programme with Colechi, a collective humanising fashion practices. Our cohort developed a knitwear collection produced locally by EkoAlpaka, incorporating traceable passports to enhance transparency. This work was featured at the Green Fashion Summit 2024 at Somerset House, alongside workshops and panel discussions.
This scarf was designed by Sehar, Tansy and I, where we teamed up to design the final product as shown below.
3x1 - The story of Ravia
Our scarf’s story began where we shared inspirations for our own personal work in order to show our individual identities in this collaboration. With Sehar’s being her culture, Corene’s being nature, and Tansy’s being storytelling, we found a common ground within all three inspirations.
Our primary concept centers on nature as heritage. We looked at scrolls to inspire storytelling as well as knitted techniques to reflect the elements of nature. As the discussion and ideation progressed, we decided to use storytelling through the lens of nature with one of Tansy’s favourite fairy tale.
The Swan on the scarf was then born, which symbolises strength and transformation with reference to stories like the ugly duckling and the wild swans. Each of the techniques on the scarf represent elements of nature - the sky, the water, the earth; trees as well as greenery. Hopefully you could identify what each textures represent… enjoy!
